Information:

START BY:a) remove valve liftersb) remove timing gear cover 1. Remove bolts (1), the elbow and turbocharger drain line (2) from the flywheel housing. 2. Turn the engine with tool (B) until the four bolts in camshaft rear gear (3) are visible. Remove the four bolts.3. Turn the engine until the "V" marks on the front timing gears are in alignment.4. Install tooling (A) through the flywheel housing and into camshaft rear gear (3). Tooling (A) must be used to keep the camshaft rear gear in position when the camshaft is removed.5. Tighten tooling (A) evenly to free the camshaft rear gear from the camshaft. 6. Remove two bolts (5) and plate (4) that hold the camshaft in the cylinder block.
Be careful not to cause damage to the camshaft bearings or the camshaft when the camshaft is removed.
7. Remove the camshaft and the gear from the cylinder block. 8. If necessary, remove the camshaft gear from the camshaft with tool group (C) and a press.9. If necessary, remove the dowel from the camshaft.Install Camshaft
Make sure the key for gear (1) is in position on camshaft (2) before gear (1) is installed.1. Heat gear (1) to a maximum temperature of 315°C (600°F). Install gear (1) on camshaft (2).2. Install dowel (3) until it extends 8.76 0.25 mm (.345 .010 in.) from the end of the camshaft.3. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on the camshaft lobes and valve lifter rollers. Put clean engine oil on the bearing journals of the camshaft. 4. Carefully install the camshaft in the cylinder block. Make an alignment of "V" mark on gear (1) with the "V" mark on gear (5).5. Install plate (4) and the bolts that hold the camshaft in place in the cylinder block. 6. Loosen tooling (A) to make an alignment of the hole in gear (6) and the dowel in the camshaft.7. Install one bolt (7) to hold gear (6) on the camshaft. Remove tooling (A).8. Use tool (B) to turn the engine until all the bolts that hold the gear to the camshaft can be installed. Tighten bolts (7) evenly to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb.ft.). Tighten the bolts again to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb.ft.).9. Use tool (C) and check the camshaft end play at the front of the engine. The end play must be 0.10 to 0.25 mm (.004 to .0010 in.). 10. Put gasket (10) in position as shown. Install elbow (9) and turbocharger drain line (8) as a unit on the flywheel housing.END BY:a) install valve liftersb) install timing gear cover
