(F) To Lift Rod End port on implement valve When lift control valve (6) is in the HOLD position and ride control (14) is in the OFF position, solenoid valve (3) is not energized. Oil supplied from the implement pump flows through PC orifice (7) and check valve (6) and is blocked by ride control spool (8). Pilot oil from the implement valve is blocked at ride control solenoid (3). Spool (8) is held in the center position by springs (10) and (11). In the left position, spool (8) maintains pressure on the accumulator circuit. In the right position, spool (8) directs excess pressure to the tank (D).Rod end oil is blocked at spool (12) and at lift control valve.AUTO Mode

(15) Ride control indicator When lift control valve (6) is in the HOLD position and button (14) is in AUTO mode, solenoid valve (3) is energized. Solenoid valve (3) is energized when the machine is moving faster than the Ride Control trigger speed (which can be adjusted in Caterpillar ET). The Ride Control indicator (15) on the instrument cluster is lit. The middle of three indicator LEDs is lit above the Ride Control button (14) on the keypad in the operator station. Pilot oil flows to spool (4). Oil can pass back and forth from the cylinders to the accumulators (5), cushioning the ride.As the machine approaches the load site, the operator reduces the speed of the machine. When the machine speed is reduced to approximately 8.0 km/h (5 mph) or whatever trigger speed is programmed via ET, the ride control system is automatically switched off. This results in a greater breakout force. After the bucket is filled and the operator begins moving the machine to the dump site, the machine speed increases. As machine speed increases to approximately 8.0 km/h (5 mph) or the current programmed trigger speed, the ride control system is switched on in order to dampen the pitching of the bucket.Reference: For additional information about the operation of the ride control switch, refer to the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine.
