Lower the body prior to measuring the clearance between body and the tailgate. On achieving (D1) clearance between body and the tailgate, torque the bolts to standard torque value. The bottom of the tailgate to the scow should be (D2) and the tailgate should rest on both pads.
Note: Use Shims (37) between arm assembly and tailgate to achieve the best clearance. The arm assemblies can be adjusted by altering the position of mounting plates before bolts are tightened.Ensure that the weight of the tailgate is supported with lifting equipment when adjusting the shimsAdjustment of the Chain Tension for the Scissor Tailgate Arrangement

The chain assemblies should start to raise the scissor tailgate arrangement when the angle of tip of body reaches 5 degree.
Note: Use link (32) and link (33) to adjust the chain length. Link (32) is 118 mm (4.7 inch) long and link (33) is 128 mm (5.0 inch) long. The links can be used in different combinations, so both chains are the same length with one line (32) and one link (33) on each chain. Or, one chain can be shorter with two links (32) and one chain longer with two links (33). This is in order to adjust the chain length to get both sides of the tailgate to take up slack at about the same time when the body is raised.
