6V7050 Lifter Spring Compressor Group
Adjustment Of 6V7050 Compressor Group
1 Before the compressor group is used for the first time, or if the compressor group has been disassembled, an adjustment must be made to the compressor group. 2 There must be a pump group next to the one being used for this adjustment or when a pump group is being removed or installed. It is used as a stud to hold the compressor group. If two pump groups are not next to each other, install two pump groups (without the lifter spring). Put the bracket of compressor group (1) over one of the pump bonnets. Put 4B1228 Screw (2) in the fuel line seat of the next bonnet, to make an alignment of compressor group (1). Install and tighten 5M7418 Nut (3). Be sure 6V7015 Clamp (4) is not fastened (locked) down. Adjust screw (2) in or out so that the top of the bracket just starts to move (see arrow) when clamp (4) is fastened (locked) down. Tighten 4B2046 Nut (5).Removal Of Pump Group
1 Remove fuel lines (1). It is necessary to remove the line on each side of the pump group being removed. Install 8S4613 Wrench (2) and loosen bushing (3), a small amount, for the pump group being removed. Put compressor group (4) in position and install 5M7418 Nut (5). Use the 4B1228 Screw to put the compressor group in alignment with the pump group. Tighten nut (5). Put 6V7015 Clamp (6) in the fastened (locked) position. 2 Loosen bushing (3) until it is out of the threads. Lift the O-ring seal from the threads with a 5P7414 Seal Pick.
Do not remove the O-ring seal with your fingers. If the clamp handle is released by accident, the sudden release of the spring force could cause injury.
3 Lift clamp (6) SLOWLY to release the pressure on the lifter spring. If the cam lobe is up, there will be a small remainder of spring force which will be released when nut (5) is removed. Remove nut (5), compressor group (4) and bushing (3). Be sure the fuel rack is in center position. Remove the O-ring and the pump group. Put identification on the pump groups as to their location in the pump housing.4 Do Steps 1-3 for each pump group to be removed. If all six are to be removed, it will be necessary to install a bushing and pump group (without the lifter spring) next to the last one to be removed.Installation Of Pump Group
1 Be sure the rack is in center position. If all the pump groups have been removed, temporarily install a pump group (without a lifter spring) and a bushing. Turn the camshaft until the lobe of the camshaft is down on the pump to be installed. Look down the pump group and put the groove in the barrel in alignment with the groove (slot) in the pump gear. The groove (slot) of the gear must be in alignment with the center of barrel
