Existing Valve Mechanism Cover Base and Wiring Harness Removal
The valve cover base must be removed to perform this procedure. Do not attempt to install the brackets while the valve cover base is on the engine. Damage to the engine will occur.
Remove the valve cover base from the engine, and wipe the base free of oil. If you are using a new valve cover base, proceed to Step 2
Place the valve cover base on a work bench with the press in seal facing up.
Cut the cable straps that secure the wiring harness to the valve cover base.Note: If the base has cable strap mounts, remove the strap and leave the mount in the base.Note: If the base has clips holding the harness, remove the bolts from the base and retain the bolts. Remove the clips from the harness and retain the clips.
Remove the bolts that hold the bulkhead interface connector to the base and retain the bolts and washers.
Remove the harness from the valve cover base using the bulkhead connector. Manipulate the harness to allow the harness to pass through the opening in the base.Valve Cover Base and Wiring Harness Assembly

Identify and tap eyelet holes (1), (2), and (3) using a 5/16 - 18 thread tap.Note: Identify the eyelet shapes and bracket position. Notice that eyelets (2) and (3) are on the left side of the boss and eyelet (1) is on the right side of the boss. The 432-1909 Bracket fits the same way on eyelets (2) and (3) and must be flipped over for eyelet (1). Below is an image of all of the brackets in the final position.

Install the 432-1909 Brackets onto the eyelet holes using a 030-2135 Locking Bolt and a 9M-1974 Hard Washer on each bracket.Note: Each 432-1909 Bracket should be rotated to touch the boss seen directly below the bracket in Illustration 2.
Clean the entire assembly with brake cleaner and ensure that all metal shavings have been removed.
Insert the wiring harness into the valve cover base. Ensure that the harness was not damaged and orient the harness correct in the base.
Identify pin 1 by looking at the back of the connector. Ensure the row that contains pin 1 must be facing up when the base is installed on the engine.
Install the bulkhead connector with the bolts and washers.
Install the straps through the strap bases, or attach the clips to the harness. Tighten the straps on the cross member of the base that leads from the connector to where the eyelets are located.
