Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the necessary information to retrofit the above tractors on tractor/scraper machines with the Electronic Programmable Transmission Control (EPTC-II). THIS INSTRUCTION SHOULD BE KEPT WITH THE MACHINE. The parts and assembly procedure will not be available in any other publication.Do not perform any procedure outlined in this publication, or order any parts, until you read and understand the information contained within. The machine must have been equipped with an ICM Transmission. Speed Sensor
Machine must be off with the disconnect switch off and the key removed. 1. Remove the existing guard and speed sensor. 2. Install 3E-6955 Speed Sensor with a 3K-0306 Seal. Make sure the tip of the sensor has been extended and that it is installed over a gear tooth. Refer to SMHS8617 Installation Procedure.Tighten the sensor to 24 3 N m (18 4 lb ft).3. Fasten the connector to the sensor and install the existing guard with 6T-5612 Grommets, 2S-6160 Washers and 3B-1915 Bolts.Transmission
1. Remove the step guard from the transmission.2. Remove the side guard from the transmission.3. Remove the cover and gasket from the transmission.4. Remove the actual gear switch control.
6V-5828 Actual Gear Switch Control5. Install 6V-5828 Actual Gear Switch Control and connect the harness to the control. Install 6T-5133 Gasket and cover to the side of the transmission.6. Install the side guard with existing hardware. 7. Disconnect oil lines and wiring from the solenoids. Remove the upshift and downshift solenoids. 8. Clean and stone the entire manifold surface. The new adapters will be bolted in a different location, therefore there may be some paint or grease on the manifold under the adapters.With Screens In Manifold
9. Install two 6I-8226 Adapters with four 1F-5842 Bolts and two 9F-2447 Plugs in each adapter. Install one 9F-2247 Plug in the manifold (Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the plugs).Install two 8M-5250 Seals and two 8M-5127 Seals in the adapters.Install the cartridge assembly of 7X-1120 Solenoid Valve Group in the adapter. Tighten the cartridge assembly to 25 5 N m (18.5 3.7 lb ft).Install the coil assembly to the solenoid with a nut and washer.
