Remove the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter - Remove".Note: Mark all components for assembly purposes.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Install Tooling (B) . Remove bolts (1) . Remove cover (2) .

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Remove bolts (3) slowly in order to release tension on spring washer (5) . Remove retainer (4) and remove spring washer (5) .

Install Tooling (C) in order to retain the bearings.

Remove bolts (7) . Insert bolts (7) into Holes (X) in order to separate housing assembly (6) .
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to housing assembly (6) .
