Install locking plate (20) and the adjusting nut.

Use Tooling (F) to check bearing end play for intermediate shaft (21) .
Use Tooling (D) to adjust the nut until a bearing end play of 0.00 to 0.10 mm (.000 to .003 inch) is obtained.

Lower the temperature of bearing race (18). Install the bearing race into the gearbox housing.

Note: The sealing lip should be facing inside the cover.
Install lip seal (16) and O-ring (17) onto the cover.

Use Tooling (C) to install cover (15) .

Install gear (14) and centering ring (13) onto drive shaft (11) .
Raise the temperature of bearing cones (12) to a maximum temperature of 135 °C (275 °F). Use heat resistant gloves in order to install the bearing cones onto shaft (11) .

Install the drive shaft and gear assembly (10) into gearbox housing (19) .

Lower the temperature of bearing race (7). Install the bearing race into gearbox housing (19) .
Install a new lip seal (8) and gasket (9) .

Install housing (6) and bolts (5) onto the transfer gearbox.

Use Tooling (F) to check bearing end play for drive shaft (11) .
Use Tooling (C) to adjust cover (15) until a bearing end play of 0.00 to 0.10 mm (.000 to .003 inch) is obtained.

Install pulley (3), the washer, and nut (2). Tighten the nut to a torque of 500 80 N m (370 60 lb ft). Install cotter pin (1) .End By: Install the transfer gearbox. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transfer Gearbox - Install".
