1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.2. Drain the oil from engine oil cooler. 3. Remove two bolts (2) and clamp that hold oil line (1) to oil cooler. Move oil line away from oil cooler. Remove water line (3).4. Remove the bolts that hold elbow to oil cooler and water pump. Remove the elbow (5).5. Remove cover (4) and bearing cage.6. Fasten a hoist to the water pump.7. Remove the six bolts (6) that hold water pump to accessory drive housing. 8. Remove the fresh water pump. Weight is 86 lb. (39 kg).Install Fresh Water Pump
1. Fasten a hoist to water pump. Put the pump on engine with a new gasket. Install the six bolts that hold pump to accessory drive housing. 2. Install the bearing cage (1) and cover (2). 3. Install the elbow (3).4. Put the oil line (4) on the oil cooler. Install the two bolts and clamp. Install water line to pump from water temperature regulator housing.5. Fill the radiator with coolant. Add oil to engine as needed. See the MAINTENANCE GUIDE.Disassemble Fresh Water Pump
start by: a) remove fresh water pump 1. Remove bolts (4) and gear (2) from shaft (5). Remove bolts (3) and bearing (1). 2. Remove four bolts (9) and elbow (8). Remove bolts (6) and cover (7). 3. Remove cotter pin (11). Loosen, but do not remove nut (10). 4. Install tooling (A) as shown and loosen impeller (12) on the shaft. Remove tooling (A), nut (10), washer and impeller. 5. Remove shaft (5) from spring (13) and seal assembly (14). 6. Remove retainer (16) from housing (15). 7. Remove the bearing and seal (17) from retainer (16). 8. Remove rubber seal and ceramic ring (18) from adapter (19) in the housing.Assemble Fresh Water Pump
Clean water only is permitted for use as a lubricant for assistance at installation. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.
1. Install the lip type seal in retainer (1) with tooling (A). The seal lip goes toward the inside of the retainer. Put a thin layer of SAE 30 oil on the seal lip. 2. Install the bearing in retainer (1) with tooling (A). Install the bearing until it is even with the surface of retainer. Put a thin layer of SAE 30 oil on the bearing. 3. Install new gasket (2) between housing (3) and retainer (1). Put the retainer in position on the housing. 4. Put shaft (4) in position in the housing. Install bearing (5) on the housing with four bolts and locks. Bend the locks. 5. Put the ceramic ring (6) in position in the rubber seal. Use hand pressure and tool (7) (which is with the replacement ring) to install ceramic ring (6). Use hand pressure and the tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the seal
