Certain Cat® Product Link devices (PL241) in China may fail to update to new firmware. As part of the large push to update PL241 devices to the new firmware, many devices are queued for update. This caused an overload of the networks capabilities and communication with all devices are affected.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and has increased the bandwidth in the gateway to handle the increased message volume. As the PL241 update process comes to a close and the volume returns to a more normal level, the increased bandwidth should be able to manage the traffic. Caterpillar is also monitoring the traffic to prevent such issues from happening again.
