Removal Procedure
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Turn off and disconnect the battery.

Open engine enclosure (1).

Remove three bolts (2), three washers (3), and left fender (4).

Remove cable strap (5).
Remove nut (6), washer (7), and ground cable assembly (8).
Remove bolt (9), two washers (10), and nut (11). Swing support assembly (12) out of the way.
Remove nut (13), washer (14), and two cable assemblies (15).
Remove nut (16), washer (17), and wire assembly (18).

Remove three nuts (19), three washers (20), and electric starting motor (21).Installation Procedure
Install electric starting motor (21) in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten the nut (6) to grounding cable (8) with washer (7) to a torque of 18 1 N m (159 9 lb in).
Tighten the nut (13) with washer (14) for two cable assemblies (15) to a torque of 15 3 N m (133 26 lb in).
Tighten the nut (16), with washer (17), and wire assembly (18) to a torque of 15 3 N m (51 9 lb in).
