Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Make sure the cooling system has proper antifreeze if moving machine to a colder climate.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
Rotation of the turbocharger without engine operation can result in damage to the turbocharger.Cover the exhaust opening or secure the rain cap in order to prevent the turbocharger from windmilling in transit.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Specifications" for information on basic shipping specifications.For specifications of any work tools, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the specific work tool.Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure that there is adequate clearance for the machine that is being transported.Before you load the machine, remove ice, snow, or other slippery material from the loading dock and from the truck bed. This is done in order to prevent slippage of the machine. This should also be done in order to prevent a shift while the machine is moving in transit.Carefully clean the machine before you load the machine in order to remove any foreign material.Note: Obey all laws that govern the characteristics of a load (height, weight, width, and length). Observe all regulations that govern wide loads.When you move the machine to a colder climate, make sure that the cooling system has the proper antifreeze.

Before you load the machine, chock the trailer wheels or the rail car wheels, as shown. Apply the parking brake.
Move the machine into position.

After the machine has been moved into position, install the steering frame lock bar and pins. The steering frame lock will hold the front frame and the rear frame rigid.
Apply the parking brake for the machine.
Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position. Remove the key.
Block the machine, and tie down the machine. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lifting and Tying Down the Machine" for more information.
Turn the disconnect switch for the battery to the OFF position. Remove the key.
Lock the doors and the access covers. Attach any vandalism protection. Install the cover on the console. Cover the operator seat.
To prevent the turbocharger from windmilling in transit, cover the exhaust opening.
Perform a walk-around inspection.
Travel at a moderate speed. Observe all speed limitations when you are shipping the machine. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.
