Remove Steering Cylinders
start by:a) connection of anti-pivot link 1. Disconnect two hose assemblies (1) from the steering cylinder (one from head end and one from rod end). Put caps or plugs in both cylinder body and hoses. 2. Remove bolt (3), washer and spacer (2) from cylinder pin. 3. Install original bolt (3), washer and tooling (B) as shown. 4. Hit the bolt with a hammer and remove the pin from the rod end of the cylinder. 5. Fasten tool (A) to the steering cylinder with straps as shown. 6. Fasten a hoist and straps to rod end of cylinder (4) as shown. 7. Disconnect grease line (7) from fitting on cylinder.8. Remove bolt (5), washer and spacer (6) from pin on head end of cylinder. See Steps 3 and 4 for removal of pin.9. Remove steering cylinder (4). Weight of the cylinder is 225 lb. (101 kg).Install Steering Cylinders
1. Fasten tool (A) to the head end of the cylinder. Fasten straps and hoist to the rod end of the cylinder and put the steering cylinder (1) in position on the machine. Install the rear pin, spacer, washer and bolt. 2. Connect grease line (2) to the fitting on the cylinder. 3. Install pin (3) in cylinder rod. Install spacer (5), washer and bolt (4) that hold the pin in the rod. 4. start by:a) remove steering cylinders 1. Put steering cylinder (1) in position on tooling (A) as shown. 2. Remove bolts (2) from the head. Use tooling (A) to remove the rod assembly from the cylinder assembly. 3. Use tooling (B) to remove the nut from the rod assembly. 4. Remove piston (3) from the rod assembly (4). 5. Remove wear ring (5) and seal assembly (6) from the piston. 6. Remove head (7) from the rod assembly. 7. Remove O-ring seal (8) and back-up ring from the head. 8. Remove lip seal (9) and seals (10). 9. Remove lip seals (11) from each side of the cylinder and rod assemblies. 10. Use tooling (C) to remove the bearings from the cylinder and rod assemblies.Assemble Steering Cylinders
1. Use tooling (A) to install the bearings in the cylinder and rod assemblies as shown. Install the bearings to a depth of .30 in. (8.2 mm) below the surface of the cylinder and rod assemblies. The inside diameter of the bearings after assembly must be 2.253 .0033 in. (57.226 0.084 mm). 2. Install the lip seals on each side of the cylinder and rod assemblies with tooling (B). Install the seals with the lip away from the bearings. 3. Install the seals in the head. Use tooling (B) to install the lip seal. Install the seal with the lip toward the outside of the head. Put clean SAE 10 oil on all the seals. 4. Install back-up ring and O-ring seal (1) on the
