Introduction
This machine is equipped with a direct drive power shift transmission. The machine has ten forward speeds and two reverse speeds. Six of the forward speeds are closely spaced in the normal work range of 6.5 to 12.9 km/h (4 to 8 mph). A slow speed of 4.2 km/h (2.6 mph) is provided for the Challenger 65E Agricultural Tractor. A slow speed of 4.5 km/h (2.8 mph) is provided for the following Agricultural Tractors: Challenger 75E, Challenger 85E and Challenger 95E. A roading speed of 29.1 km/h (18 mph) is provided for all four machines.

(1) Transmission control leverSpeed and direction selection is made through the use of a single lever. In order to select a forward speed, push lever (1) forward. Align the lever with the number that corresponds to the desired speed. In order to select a reverse speed, pull lever (1) rearward. Align the lever with the number that corresponds to the desired speed.

(2) Inching pedalAn inching clutch pedal is provided in order to disengage the transmission. This will prevent stalling the engine when you stop the machine. The inching clutch provides a smooth initial movement from a stop. The inching clutch provides fine control of the machine in order to make attaching an implement to the machine easier. The inching clutch pedal is used to start from a stop under load in any gear up to seventh gear. This feature has eliminated the need to shift from first gear through seventh gear in order to reach the desired speed. You do not need to use the inching clutch for shifting between gears while the machine is moving. You may change gears by moving the gear selector lever.

Transmission output shaft (9) connects transmission (8) and steering differential (10) .Power from the steering differential is then sent from steering differential (10) through final drives (11) to the drive wheels and the drive belts. When the steering wheel is turned, additional power is added to steering differential (10) by steering motor (14). The additional power slows one belt and speeds up the other belt in order to
