Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Install the water pump. Install bolts (13) that hold water pump (14) to the engine block.

Top view between the alternator and the housing for the water temperature regulator
Install bolts (12) on the top part of the bracket (5).

Install guards (10) and install bolts (9) .

Tighten upper clamp (8) on the hose that connects to the water temperature regulator housing. Tighten upper clamp (8) to 14 1 N m (10 1 lb ft).

Install fitting (2) to the side of water pump. Connect hoses (4) and (7) onto the water pump. Tighten hose clamp (6). Install clip (1) onto the ground wire on the back of the water pump. Install bolts (3) to bracket (5) on the side of the water pump.
Install the serpentine belt. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
