July 2002 CHANGE OF CORE CRITERIA FOR UPGRADE TO NEW CRANKSHAFTS Program Effective immediately, Caterpillar announces a change to the core acceptance guidelines for upgrade to new crankshafts. Full Core Refund for upgrade to new transactions has been eliminated. As previously announced, damaged core refund on upgrade to new transactions were expanded to include the following:
♦ Cracked or broken
♦ Unacceptable part number or competitive part number
♦ Evidence of unsuccessful attempts to salvage
The elimination of full core refund will simplify core inspection activities on upgrade to new crankshaft transactions, resulting in greater inspection accuracy. We trust that this change will help you achieve additional sales and that you will find the Reman Products Group easier to do business with. Refer to Crankshaft Reman Core Acceptance Criteria SELD0017-07 for the latest crankshaft core acceptance criteria. Core Management Please refer to the Caterpillar? Core Management Information System (CMIS 2) Parts Information application describing all reman part/CAF and related information. Also refer to other CMIS 2 inquiry applications such as Customer Profiles, Inspection Reason Codes, Inspection Line Inquiry, Add Charge Information, Entitlement Activity, Entitlement Inquiry, CCR Inquiry, CCR Entry, Shipment Processing; Process Packaging Grief; and Reporting to properly manage core returns and monitor inspection performance. This information will be available to all dealers worldwide after your CMIS 2 conversion date.
