Ask the operator about the sequence of events prior to the problem. Determine the order of the occurrences.
Ask the operator about the steps that have been taken to troubleshoot the machine.
Check the history of repairs of the machine.
Ask about the preventive maintenance of the machine.Inspect the machine. Look for problems. Notice any unusual odors in the air. Listen for unusual noises.
Check the component data display mode.The component data display mode will show the values of the data that are received by the electronic control module (ECM) or the values that are sent by the ECM. The components include sensors, switches, etc. Each of the components is referenced by a unique CID (component identifier).The required tools, procedures, and CID descriptions are provided in the following reference.ReferenceRefer to "Accessing Calibration And Display Modes of The Monitoring System" under "System Calibrations" in Service Manual, RENR9867, "Machine Electronic Control System".
