Installation Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Clean the oil pan gasket surfaces on the oil pan and the cylinder block. Install a new oil pan gasket (5) on the oil pan (4). Note: Check the inside of the oil pan in order to ensure that all foreign objects have been removed. Also check the suction bell.

Move the oil pan (4) into position under the cylinder block.
Install one-half inch guide pins at the corners of the oil pan. Raise the oil pan into position and install the bolts (3) and the washers.

Put the tube assembly and the spacer (1) in position. Install the four bolts. Install the tube assembly (2) between the oil pan and the oil pump. Note: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil before installation.
Install the clamps and the bolts that hold the tube assembly (if equipped) to the oil pan.
Remove the engine from the support stands and install the engine on the base.
Connect the electrical supply.
Connect the prelube pump.
Connect the generator coupling.
Connect the exhaust system.
Connect the air cleaners.
Connect the air supply to the air starting motors. Connect the air supply to the mounting hardware and lines for the air starting motor.
Connect the expansion tank and the water lines.
Connect the fuel supply and turn on the fuel supply.
Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. Refer to the Operation And Maintenance Manual.
Fill the water system to the correct level. Refer to the Operation And Maintenance Manual. End By:
