3306B Truck EnginesDescription of Change: A new graphite exhaust manifold gasket is used on 3306B Truck Engines. It is more durable and has better sealing capabilities than the former stainless steel gasket. The new gasket is flexible and has slots at the bolt holes for better alignment and to prevent scratching of the surfaces.Adaptable To: The new 9Y1979 Gasket is a direct replacement for the former 8S6410 Gasket.To install the new gasket:
... Check the exhaust parts of the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold for flatness.... Remove all nicks and burrs.... Install the new gasket with the side marked "this side out" facing the exhaust manifold. Avoid scratching the surfaces.
