A 8S-1378 Stud Remover and Resetter Tool 1
Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install two O-ring seals (16) and O-ring seal (17) to unit injector hydraulic pump drive (12). Lubricate the bore prior to installing unit injector hydraulic pump drive (12).

Position unit injector hydraulic pump drive (12) on the engine.
The following procedure is used to secure unit injector hydraulic pump drive (12) to the engine.
Install four twelve point head bolts (14). Tighten twelve point head bolts (14) to a torque of 5 3 N m (44 27 lb in).
Install pin (15) and the O-ring seal. Tighten pin (15) to a torque of 105 10 N m (77 7 lb ft).
Tighten twelve point head bolts (14) again to a torque of 55 7 N m (41 5 lb ft). Note: Prior to installing pump idler gear (8), the number one piston must be at TDC. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, SENR1018, "Finding Top Center Compression Position for No. 1 Piston" for the correct procedure.
Position pump idler gear (8) to the engine. Align the timing mark on pump idler gear (8) with the timing mark on the camshaft drive gear. Install retaining plate (9) and four twelve point head bolts (10) to the engine. Tighten twelve point head bolts (10) to a torque of 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).
If necessary, use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install stud (11) to the engine. If necessary, use Tooling (A) in order to install the taperlock stud to the fuel pump gear cover. Note: The end of each speed sensor (13) is retractable. Speed sensors (13) must be fully extended prior to installation.
Install two speed sensors (13) to the timing gear housing. Tighten speed sensors (13) to a torque of 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft). Connect the harness assemblies to the two speed sensors (13).
Install a new gasket (7) to the engine.

Install fuel pump gear cover (5) and ten bolts (6) to the engine. Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of stud (11) prior to installing the full nut. Install the remaining full nut to fuel pump gear cover (5).

Connect atmospheric pressure sensor (4) at the electrical connection. Connect temperature sensor (3) at the electrical connection.
Connect three hose assemblies (1) to tee (2). End By:
Install the unit injector hydraulic pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Unit Injector Hydraulic Pump - Install".
Install the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Drive - Install".

If necessary, use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install stud (11) to the engine. If necessary, use Tooling (A) in order to install the taperlock stud to the fuel pump gear cover.
