Lifting the Machine
Make sure the lifting cables and other lifting devices are in good condition and in correct capacity, and also positioned correctly. Lifting eyes are not to be side loaded during a lifting operation.Consult your Caterpillar dealer for the proper transporting and lifting procedures, size and type of cables and lifting devices. When lifting components, put the swing lock pin lever and the hydraulic activation control lever in LOCKED position to prevent unexpected machine movements.Use guide or tag lines to prevent components from swinging or turning.Always use a signal man and perform machine movement only after getting signals from the signal man.Do not allow anyone under any raised component.Improper lifting or tiedowns can allow load to shift and can cause injury and damage.
Lift each component in accordance with the following procedure to load on a trailer. 1. Lifting cab; Fasten lifting cables to the two lifting eyes provided on the top of the cab, as shown above, and lift it off the swing frame. 2. Lifting counterweight; Remove the counterweight from the machine in accordance with the procedure, "Removing and Installing the Counterweight" given in this manual.Fasten lifting cables to the two lifting eyes provided on the counterweight through shackles, as shown above, and lift the counterweight. 3. Lifting stick; Fasten lifting cables to the four lifting eyes provided on the stick through shackles, as shown above, and lift the stick together with the bucket and bucket cylinder. 4. Lifting boom cylinders; Fasten lifting cables to the head and base of the cylinder tube and also fasten a wire rope through the hole of the cylinder rod end and the pipe on the cylinder tube to prevent the cylinder rod from sliding out, as shown above. Then lift the boom cylinder.Do the same for the other boom cylinder. 5. Lifting boom; Fasten lifting cables to the three lifting eyes provided on the boom through shackles and also fasten a wire rope through holes of the boom end and stick cylinder rod end to prevent cylinder rod from sliding out, as shown above. Then lift the boom together with the stick cylinder. 6. Lifting catwalks; Fasten lifting cables to two corners of a catwalk which are symmetrically located, as shown above, and lift it off.Five different catwalks are installed on this machine.Lift them off, one at a time. 7. Lifting machine body; Install two support pins (1) and protective pipes (2) through the lifting holes in the frame near the base of the boom.Fasten lifting cables to the support pins and lift the machine body.
After fastening the lifting cables to the support pins, check to be sure lock bolt (3) of each support pin is securely tightened.
After lifting the machine body approximately 50 cm (20") above the ground, stop lifting and check machine stability. If it is satisfactory, continue to lift.
For transportation purposes, only the machine body should not be lifted but loaded on a trailer using a loading platform, or loading plates if a loading platform is not available.
