Plate Operation

Direction of travel
Ensure that the plate is installed so that the weld overlaps are in the correct orientation for direction of travel.Note: Early versions of the extended wear plates may have an arrow etched into the working face. This arrow points to the rear of the plates and is intended for manufacturing purposes only. It will not affect the performance of the plate.SE Series Screeds
The bottom areas of the frames of these screeds are machined flat. On these screeds, it is suggested to bring up the screed plates tight to the frame surfaces before making any flatness checks. Do not adjust the corners, but make flattening adjustments in between. There may be locations where the welds on the studs interfere with the mounting provisions on the screed. If so, the screed frame or the stud weld can be ground down to eliminate this interference. Care should be taken to avoid removing significant amounts of weld on the studs. After installing screed plates on the SE series screeds, torque all screed plate studs to 70 N m (52 lb ft). With the lower torque comes the recommendation to double nut the studs using 329-3356 Nuts. Torque the second nut to 100 N m (74 lb ft).Note: SE60V, 60V-XW, and 60VT-XW require new 513-2924 Hold-Downs.These are shown in the extended life plate groups.AS4252C
The bottom areas of the frames of these screeds are machined flat. On these screeds, it is suggested to bring up the screed plates tight to the frame surfaces before making any flatness checks. Do not adjust the corners, but make flattening adjustments in between.10-20B, 8-16B, AS3251C, AS3301C
On these screeds, it is suggested to set the distance that the main screed corner adjusters protrude from the frame before making any other settings, as with a normal plate replacement:

Front Corners 19.7 mm (0.78 inch) Flatness Checks

The same basic procedures apply for screed setup as when using standard plates. The only difference is when checking flatness, extra error must be considered, due to the irregular weld surface. When performing flatness checks, do not adjust if flatness is within 1.5 mm (0.06 inch). Use a string line and spacers like what would be used on a standard plate installation. Set up the string/spacers so that the string lies in the middle of the weld area, not on top of the weld high spot, or in the low spot.Extender Angle of Attack

(B) Rearward most weldThe same extender angle of attack specifications is used as with a smooth plate install. Refer to screed test and adjust for particular model specifications. It is suggested to take the extender angle of attack measurement at the low spot of the welds, forward most and rear most positions. Set the desired angle of attack so that the gap in the low spot of the forward most weld (A) is the desired amount higher than the low spot of
