Location and Function
Illustration 1 g00948116
The left and right auger motors are located above the auger screw behind the operator platform.
Illustration 2 g00944584
(1) Left Auger Motor (2) Left planetary driveThe left and right auger motors are axial piston fixed displacement motors. The output shaft of the auger motor is splined to the planetary drive. The planetary drive turns the chain for the auger screws.Note: The left auger motor and left planetary drive is identical to the right auger motor and right planetary drive. The auger conveyor motor will consume 35 cc (2 in3) of oil for every revolution of the motor.Components

Components of a Typical Piston Motor (3) End cap (4) Valve plate (5) Piston (6) Shaft (7) Motor housing (8) Swashplate (9) Cylinder assemblySwashplate (8) is fixed in motor housing (7). The angle of this swashplate can not be changed.Operation and Oil Flow

Hydraulic Schematic for the Left or Right Auger Motor (1) Auger motor (10) Orifice (11) Line to oil cooler bypass manifold (12) Test port (13) Line from auger piston pump (14) Line to auger piston pump (AA) System pressure (AB) First pressure reduction (AC) Sump (AD) Activated componentsAuger motor (1) receives system pressure oil from the auger piston pump through the line from auger piston pump (13). The speed of the auger motor is directly proportional to the oil flow that is produced by the auger piston pump. Oil will flow through the auger motor and back to the auger piston pump through the line to auger piston pump (14). This return oil remains in the closed loop hydraulic system. This oil feeds the piston pump at the inlet side of the pump.Reference: See Systems Operation, "Piston Pump (Auger Conveyor)" for additional information about the auger piston pump. The auger piston pump and auger motor work as a closed loop hydraulic system. In a closed loop hydraulic system, most of the oil in the system remains in the system.Oil in a closed loop hydraulic system needs to be replenished for the following reasons:
Oil lost through lubrication of the internal components.
Oil lost through leakage from the internal components.
Oil that is diverted to the oil cooler bypass manifoldApproximately 3.8 L/min (1 US gpm) of oil is diverted around the auger motor and through orifice (10). This oil is sent back to the hydraulic oil cooler through the line to oil cooler bypass manifold (11). The charge pump will continually replenish any oil that is lost in the closed loop hydraulic system. Also, the charge pump will deliver oil through the charge filter before sending new oil to the pump stacks. As a result, the oil in the closed loop hydraulic system will continually be cooled and filtered.Test port (12) is available to check the system pressure when the piston pump is operating. When the piston pump is not operating, you can check charge pressure at test port (12) .
