Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the oil pan.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove the eight bolts that hold the cover (4). The suction screen is externally mounted behind the cover on the inside of the tube assembly.
If necessary, remove the eight bolts that hold the tee assembly (3). Note: The tee assembly on the engine has a port that supplies the engine oil to the remote mounted prelube pump. The shut off valve (1) is located between the tee assembly and the remote mounted prelube pump.Note: Callout (2) is the oil pan drain valve.

Remove the suction bell (5).

Remove the clamp (6).
Remove the tube assembly (7). Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or damage. Replace the seals, if necessary.
