Remove Air Compressor
1. Release the air from the air system.2. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. If the air compressor must be disassembled, drain the coolant from the air compressor cylinder head and block. 3. Put identification marks on the air lines, water lines (2) and oil lines (1) for correct installation. Disconnect the air, water lines (2) and oil lines (1) from the air compressor. 4. Fasten a hoist to air compressor (3) as shown. Remove four mounting nuts (4), and remove air compressor (3) from the engine. The weight of the compressor is 39 kg (85 lb.).Install Air Compressor
1. Fasten a hoist to air compressor (1) as shown. Put the gasket and air compressor (1) in position on the studs. Install the four mounting nuts to hold the air compressor in position. 2. Connect the air lines, water lines (2) and oil lines (3) to the air compressor.3. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.Disassemble Air Compressor
START BY:a. remove air compressor 1. Remove hose assembly (2) from the air compressor.2. Remove the bolts, and remove governor (1) from the air compressor. 3. Remove cover (3) from governor. 4. Remove retainer ring (4) with tool (A). Remove spring assembly (5) from the governor housing. Before spring assembly (5) is disassembled, put a mark on bolt (8) to show the location of nut (13) for the correct spring tension at assembly.5. Remove nut (13), washer (11), retainer (9), grommets (6) and (10), spacer (12) and bolt (8) from spring (7). 6. Remove valve (14), spring (15), sleeve (16), valve (17) and spring (18) from the governor housing (19). Remove O-ring seals (20) from the sleeve. Remove the O-ring seal from the bore of the sleeve.7. Remove plugs (21) from the governor housing. Remove the filters from under the plugs. 8. Remove the bolts, and remove manifold (22) from the air compressor. 9. Put identification marks on head assemblies (23) and the block assemblies for installation purposes. Remove the bolts, and remove head assemblies (23) from the block assemblies. 10. Remove inlet valve springs (24) from the head assemblies.11. Remove inserts (25) and the seats below the inserts from the head assemblies if necessary.12. Remove discharge valve seats (26) to remove discharge valves (27) and springs (28) from the head assemblies. 13. Remove caps (29) from the head assemblies. 14. Remove inlet valves (34) and guides (35) from the block assemblies.15. Remove unloader spring (30), spring seat (36) and spring saddle (33) from the block assemblies.16. Remove unloader plungers (31) and guide (32) from the block assemblies.17. Connect air pressure to the unloader port, and slowly release the air pressure to lift unloader pistons (37) from their bores. Remove the unloader pistons from the block assemblies. Remove inlet valve seats (38) and bushings (39) from the block assemblies if necessary. 19. Put identification
