Rework Procedure
1. Using the dimensions shown in Illustration One, fabricate the oil "dam" from steel or brass 19 mm (.75 in) thick.

(H) 197 mm (7.8 in) diameter. (J) 1 mm (.04 in) X 45° all corners.2. Remove the torque converter from the 6Y6675 Rear Pump Drive Case Assembly (1).3. Remove the 6V8675 Bolts (2) and 5P8245 Washers (3) which mount the 6Y6639 Cage Bearing (4) and shims to the 6Y6675 Rear Pump Drive Case Assembly (1). Remove the 8H0901 (Outer) Bearing Cup (5), 8H0902 Bearing Cones (6) [both inner and outer], 6Y6605 Gear (7) [62 teeth], 6Y6639 Cage Bearing (4) and 8X8248 Input Shaft Group as a unit.4. Remove 8T4139 Bolts (8), 8T4223 Washers (9) and 8X8244 Plate (10) in the 6Y6675 Rear Pump Drive Case Assembly (1).5. Remove welded plate (K) and relocate 107.1 mm (4.22 in) from the mounting face.6. Remove the 7X2551 Bolt (11) and 8T4223 Washer (9) which goes through the 6Y6613 Pin (12) for the 6Y6607 Drive Gear (13) [53 teeth], and pull the 6Y6613 Pin (12). This will allow for the 6Y6607 Gear (13) to drop down and be removed through the opening for the 6Y6639 Cage Bearing (4).7. Remove the inner 8H0901 Roller Bearing Cup (14) from the 6Y6675 Rear Pump Drive Case Assembly (1).8. Weld the two 4B1398 Plates over each of the holes (L) currently located on the flywheel side of the 6Y6675 Rear Pump Drive Case Assembly (1). Grind smooth when necessary to prevent any contact between the welds and the pump drive gears.

Illustration 3. 6F6643 Shaft Assembly is effective with (9YF1-15). 8X7860 Shaft Assembly is effective with (9YF16-Up).9. Remove the 6T3521 Plug (15) [not serviced] from the end of the Shaft Assembly (16) and replace with an 8F6575 Plug, or weld over the existing orifice of the current 6T3521 Plug (15) [not serviced]. Install and epoxy an 8F6575 Plug in those shafts which are found WITHOUT any plug. The 6T3521 Plugs [not serviced] (with an orifice) found not epoxied in place, should be epoxied before reassembly.
