1. Remove the axle, wheel and final drive carrier.2. Remove retainer ring (3) and shims (4).3. Install ring (3) without shims (4) using three bolts (6) installed at similar distances to each other. Tighten bolts (6) evenly to a torque of 75 10 lb. ft. (10.4 1.4 mkg) while turning wheel (2) to seat bearings (5) and Duo-Cone seals (1).4. Loosen bolts (6) and tighten them to 20 3 lb. ft. (2.8 0.4 mkg).5. Measure the clearance between the end of spindle (7) and retaining ring (3), area (A), at three places near the bolts and make an average of the measurements.6. Remove retaining ring (3).7. Install a shim pack (4) with a thickness the same as the average of the three measurements (A).8.
