Removal Procedure
Start By:
Release the pressure from the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Remove the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install". Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Cap all lines, all hoses, and all tubes and plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) from the right steering cylinder in order to access the transmission oil pump.

Disconnect hose assembly (4) from transmission oil pump (2).
Remove bolts (3) in order to position hose assembly (5) out of the way.
Remove bolts (6) from transmission oil pump (2).
Remove transmission oil pump (2). Note: Tilt the transmission oil pump and lift out the transmission oil pump in order to clear the meshing gears inside the transmission oil pump.
