Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.
Drain the fuel filter housing into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace".
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Disconnect tube assembly (1). Remove the O-ring seal from tube assembly (1).

Disconnect tube assembly (2).
Disconnect tube assembly (5) and tube assembly (6).
Attach a suitable lifting device onto fuel filter housing (3). The weight of fuel filter housing (3) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
Remove bolts (4) and fuel filter housing (3).

Remove bolts (9).
Remove cover (7) and O-ring seal (8) from fuel filter housing (3).
