1. Loosen the clamps on band (2), and remove the band from the tank. Remove cover (1) and the seal from the tank. 2. Remove tubes (3) and (4). The oil cooler bypass valve (5) is standard on the 953 and on attachment on the 943.3. Remove three bolts (6) and oil cooler bypass valve (5) from the tank.
Cover (8) holds a spring in compression. Injury can be the result if cover (8) is not held when bolts (7) are removed. To prevent injury, hold cover (8) when bolts (7) are removed; then slowly remove cover (8).
4. Disassemble and assemble the oil cooler bypass valve as follows:a. Hold cover (8) in position, and remove bolts (7). Carefully remove cover (8); then remove the valve, spring and tube from the oil cooler bypass valve. b. Remove snap ring (9) and valve (10) from the oil cooler bypass valve. c. Install valve (10) in the valve body, and install snap ring (9) to hold the valve in place. d. Be sure O-ring seal (14) is in position.e. Install tube (11), spring (12) and valve (13) in the valve body as shown. Hold cover (8) in position on the valve, and install the bolts that hold the cover in place. 5. Remove bolts (15), and remove body (16).
Do not loosen the locknut or turn the adjustment screw on any of the relief valves in the hydraulic tank. The relief valve setting is adjusted at the factory under controlled conditions that give the setting stability.
6. Remove and install main relief valve (17) on the body as follows:a. Remove relief valve (17) from the body. b. Be sure O-ring seal (18), back-up ring (20) and O-ring seal (19) are in position on the main relief valve. Put clean oil on the O-ring seals.c. Install the main relief valve in the body, and tighten to a torque of 80 4 N m (60 3 lb.ft.). 7. Remove tube (21). 8. Remove retainer (22) and the pin from the linkage on the valve stem of the third valve.9. Remove relief valves (23) and baffles from the third valve. Relief valves (23) are for the third cylinder. 10. Remove bolts (24) on the outside of the tank, and remove the third valve from the tank. 11. Remove plug (25), the spring and the load check valve for the third cylinder from the valve. 12. Remove the two bolts, plate (26) and spacers (27) from the valve. 13. Remove valve stem (28) from the valve body.
Be careful not to damage the ground surfaces of the valve stem.
14. Put the valve stem in a vise with soft jaws with the flat surfaces on the end of the valve stem in the vise as shown.15. Hold the spring in compression. Remove the bolt and washer, spacers (29) and the spring from the valve stem.Assemble Hydraulic Tank (Three Valve)
Put clean oil on all parts during assembly. 1. Be sure the O-ring seal is in position on plug (3).
