Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (2), bolts (3), elbow (1), and the O-ring seals.

Remove bolts (4), bolts (6), adapter (6), and the gaskets.

Attach a suitable lifting device to remove water pump (7).
Remove bolts (8), water pump (7), and the O-ring seals. The weight of water pump (7) is approximately 119 kg (262 lb).
Repeat Steps 2 thru 5 for opposite side. Installation Procedure
Install water pump (7) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the bore of water pump (7).
Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 27 4 N m (239 35 lb in).
