Schematic of the Implement Shutoff SwitchThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM reads the signal wire (E918-GN) for the implement shutoff switch as being above normal. The circuit is shorted to the + battery. The signal is a PWM signal.The possible causes of the diagnostic code are listed:
Open in the harness.
Short in the harness.
The implement shutoff switch has failed.
The ECM has failed. ECM failure is unlikely.System Response:The implement shutoff switch does not respond to changes in position. When a diagnostic code is present for the implement shutoff switch, the auto carry will function at the default load factor of 100%.Note: Ensure that CID 0490 FMI 03 is active. This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. When the procedure is completed, clear the created diagnostic codes.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT.
Disconnect the machine harness from the implement shutoff switch.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
At the machine harness connector for the implement shutoff switch, measure the voltage (DCV) between signal contact 1 (wire E918-GN) and ground contact 5 (wire 202-BK).Expected Result:The voltage should measure approximately 5 DCV.Results:
YES - The voltage measures approximately 5 DCV. The ECM and the machine harness are correct.Repair: The implement shutoff switch has failed. Replace the implement shutoff switch. STOP
NO - The voltage is not approximately 5 DCV. The harness or the ECM has failed. Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE GROUND CIRCUIT.
The implement shutoff switch remains disconnected.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connectors from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the implement shutoff switch, measure the resistance between the ground contact 5 (wire 202-BK) and frame ground.Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms.Results:
YES - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. The resistance of the harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NO - The resistance is greater than 5.0 ohms. The ground circuit in the harness has failed.Repair: There is an open in the harness. The open is between the ground contact 5 (wire 202-BK) and frame ground. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK FOR A SHORTED
