For proper installation of these pins, always drive pin (1) in from the counterbore side of adapter (2).
Driving the pins in from the side opposite the counterbore can cause the retainer to stretch beyond its elastic limit and take a permanent set. This results in lower gripping force and can cause the tips to fall off the adapters.
The counter bores on all bucket and scraper adapters are always on the right side of the adapter (facing the nose of the adapter) and on the left side of impact and D11N single shank rippers. The counterbores on landfill compactor tip adapters face toward the outside of the wheels.
