Disassembly Procedure (Horizontally Mounted Particulate Filter)
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Wear goggles, gloves, protective clothing, and a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved P95 or N95 half-face respirator when handling a used Diesel Particulate Filter or Catalytic Converter Muffler. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
Label the exterior of the filter section and the exterior of the inlet and outlet sections. Indicate the direction of the flow of exhaust through the diesel particulate filter. Note: When the sections are installed, maintain the original direction of the flow of exhaust. The sections must maintain the original direction of the flow of exhaust in order to comply with emissions standards.

Mark the exterior of the filter section and the exterior of the inlet and outlet sections before disassembly at point (E). This will ensure the correct orientation of the sections during the assembly procedure.

Loosen clamp assemblies (1).
Disconnect fittings (3) and fittings (4) from both sides of temperature sensor (2).
Remove fittings (5) from both sides of temperature sensor (2).
Remove temperature sensor (2).
