Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine or release of air pressure or oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To help prevent possible injury before testing and adjusting any air system or hydraulic system, perform the procedure in the Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" section.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

(1) Control Valve (Brake)
(2) Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Oil) Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Oil) (2) is located on Control Valve (Brake) (1). Control Valve (Brake) (1) is located below the truck body on the left side of the machine.

(3) Control Valve (Brake Cooling, Hoist)
(4) Pressure taps for the pilot oil for the Control Valve (Brake Cooling, Hoist)
Connect a hose assembly with an 8T-0857 Pressure Gauge ( 0 to 10000 kPa (0 to 1450 psi)) to pressure taps (4).
Start the engine. Allow the brake accumulators to charge fully.
Run the engine at low idle.

(A) Hoist control lever
(B) HOLD position
Move hoist control (A) to the HOLD position.
Record the pressure on the gauge. Note: The correct pressure setting for Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Oil) (2) is 3790 345 kPa (550 50 psi).
If the pressure setting needs to be adjusted, stop the engine.

(2) Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Oil)
(5) Locknut
(6) Adjustment screw
Loosen locknut (5) of Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Oil) (2).
Rotate adjustment screw (6) clockwise by a 1/4 turn in order to raise the pressure. Rotate adjustment screw (6) counterclockwise by a 1/4 turn in order to lower the pressure.
Repeat Step 2 through Step 8 until the pressure setting is correct.
