Service the air cleaner only with the engine stopped. Engine damage could result.
The precleaner for this machine is attached to the engine air filter housing.

Open the engine hood.

Squeeze outlet tube (1) slightly to purge the dirt from the outlet tube.
Inspect the air inlet tubes on precleaner (2) for accumulation of debris.
Remove any debris that is covering the air inlet tubes.
Remove precleaner (2) from the air filter housing if more thorough cleaning is desired.
Loosen four retaining screws (3) that secure the precleaner to the air filter housing.Note: Do not attempt to remove the four retaining screws from the holes in the precleaner. The screws are retained in the holes of the precleaner.
Remove the precleaner. Clean the precleaner with pressure air or by hand. Be careful not to damage the precleaner.
Check to see that the mounting surface of the air filter housing is free of debris.
Install the precleaner on the air filter housing. Tighten the retaining screws to a torque of 8 2 N m (6 1.5 lb ft).
Remove any debris that has accumulated in the engine compartment so that debris cannot be pulled to the precleaner.
