Weigh Range Setup
The weigh range is the range of the linkage that measures the payload while raising the linkage. For accuracy:
The machine must not be digging.
The linkage must not be accelerating in the weigh range.

Weigh range
For best accuracy, allow 20% lift height between the start of lift and the start of weigh range.
20% will eliminate the effects of acceleration during lift.
Lift acceleration looks like additional weight to the payload system. This range must be adjusted from the default if:
End of dig or start of lift is higher than 30% (raise Start of Weigh Range).
Final height is below 65% (lower Start of Weigh Range).Software configuration parameters in Machine ECM Configuration screen of Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) are:
Payload Weigh Activate Lift Position = Start of weigh range - (50% default)
Payload Weigh Range Configuration = Size of weigh range - (15% default)To view linkage position in % and set the weigh range in the Information, go to Payload > Settings > Weigh Range
Illustration 2 g06177403
The Weigh Range icon (1) will appear when the linkage is within the configured weight range.

The possible negative effects of improperly setting the weigh range must be understood. The weigh range should be set to an area that allows the smoothest operation to occur. The following table lists the possible problems that may occur from incorrectly adjusting the weigh range.
Table 1
Improper Setting Result
Setting the range too low May cause poor weighing accuracy due to lift acceleration in the weigh range.
Setting the range too high May also cause excessive reweigh indications if the lift is stopped in the weigh range. Can also cause poor accuracy if the lift kickout is hit in the weigh range.
Setting the range too wide May lead to poor accuracy due to the increased probability that machine operation could cause pressure instability in the lift cylinders (Lift velocity change).
