1. Make a replacement of two flywheel bolts (1) (180 degrees apart) with two 5/8 "-18 NF × 12 in. Long Guide Bolts (2) as shown. Remove the remainder of flywheel bolts (1). 2. Pull flywheel (3) away from the flywheel housing enough to fasten a hoist as shown.3. Remove flywheel (3) from the guide bolts. The weight of flywheel (3) is 41 kg (90 lb). 4. If necessary, remove gear (4) from flywheel (3).Install Flywheel
1. If a replacement of baffle (1) is needed, push the new baffle on until the forward edge is in contact with the flywheel housing. 2. Heat gear (2) to a maximum temperature of 315° C (600° F) and install it on the flywheel, so the chamfer of the gear teeth will be toward the starter pinion when the flywheel is installed. 3. Install two 5/8 "-18 NF × 12 in. Long Guide Bolts (4) in the end of the crankshaft. Fasten a hoist and put flywheel (3) in the correct position on guide bolts (4) with the dowel hole in alignment with the dowel in the crankshaft rear gear. 4. Remove the hoist and push flywheel (3) in position all of the way on the guide bolts. 5. Put clean engine oil or 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease on the threads of bolts (5) and install the bolts to hold the flywheel. Remove the guide bolts and install the remainder of bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 275 25 N m (200 18 lb ft).
