Use the dimensions given in Illustrations 6 and 7, and the face on the FT-2590 Alignment Fixture , to determine the dimensions for milling the surface for the differential thrust stop pin on the differential bearing cap.Note: Mill the pad 18.0 mm (.71 inch) toward the top of the axle housing.

Locating the centerdrill on the Alignment Fixture.Note: The fixture that is shown in Illustration 9 may differ somewhat from FT-2590 Alignment Fixture .
Remove the modified differential bearing cap from the differential carrier. Locate a centerdrill off the FT-2590 Alignment Fixture . The location of the centerdrill will be used to determine the dimensions for machining and drilling holes in the axle housing.
After the face for the differential thrust stop pin has been machined on the differential bearing cap, install the axle housing on the differential carrier.

Machine the face for the pin cover on the axle housing using the dimensions given in Illustration 10.
Machine the hole for the thrust stop pin in the axle housing as shown in Illustration 10. Chamfer the hole for the fabricated thrust stop pin to prevent damage to the seal during installation.
Drill and tap the holes in the axle housing for the thrust stop pin cover.Note: It may be desirable to clean the surface for the panhard rod mounting bracket while the axle housing is on the milling machine.
