Paging functions have been added to the UPS. The system must have an internal modem or an external modem. An adapter board is required for the external modem. The system must have UPS View software. Configuration of the Modem
Connect an analog telephone line to the Modem Jack that is located on the lower left-hand corner of the System I/O Module.Note: The System I/O Module is located on the panel in the lower left-hand corner. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Interfaces".
In the UPS View application, select the "Enter Password" menu option. The "Enter User Name / Password" dialog box appears.

Enter a valid "User Name" and enter a valid "Password". After the password has been entered, click the "OK" button. The menu option will change. The menu bar will now contain an "Op. Params." option.
Select "Op. Group 6: Disable Auto Start / Modem Enable".
Set the "Operating Parameter Modem Enable" to a value of "1" and press "Send".
Select the "Op. Group 6: Disable Auto Start / Modem Enable" from the "Op. Params." pull-down menu.
Select the type of the modem that is being installed from the list in Table 1. Enter the value for the type of Modem and press "Send".

3     "Multi-Tech Multi Modem II"    Note: The "US Robotics" and "Multi-Tech" modems are the only two external modems that have been qualified to operate with the UPS. The "US Robotics" and "Multi-Tech" modems are used in countries that have not approved the internal Socket Modems. In order to use an external modem, an adapter board must be installed on the System I/O Module. The customer is responsible for providing a receptacle that is protected by the UPS in order to supply power for the modem. Connect an external modem to the adapter board with a serial cable (9 pin to 25 pin).The switches are the dual in-line package (DIP). The switches must be set to match to values that are listed in Table 2.

Press "Control R". Press "Y" in order to reset the UPS.
With the UPS View application, initialize the internal NVRAM for the modem by entering "Control-Q" after the UPS resets. After the NVRAM has been initialized, the screen should show the current settings for the modem. If the screen displays "Modem Error
