Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and radiator cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Cooling System Conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
The engine can start automatically. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
If the engine is equipped with an air starting motor. Turn the air supply at the air reservoir to the OFF position. Ensure that the air pressure is drained from the starting air system.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedure.

Remove bolt (9) from the clip for tube assembly (2).
Loosen hose clamps (1) and hose clamps (12). Disconnect tube assembly (2).
Loosen hose clamps (3) and hose clamps (5). Disconnect tube assembly (4).
Disconnect hose assembly (6) from fuel cooler (8). Remove O-ring seal (7) (not shown). Use suitable plug and caps in order to plug the hose assembly and cap the fuel cooler.
Disconnect hose assembly (10) from fuel cooler (8). Remove O-ring seal (11) (not shown). Use suitable plug and caps in order to plug the hose assembly and cap the fuel cooler.

Remove bolts (13) and bolts (15) from guard (16). Support the guard as the bolts are removed.
Remove guard (16) from radiator assembly (14).

Remove bolts (20) from guard (19). Remove the guard from guard (21).
Remove bolts (22) from guard (21). Support the guard as the bolts are removed. Remove the guard from guard (18).
Remove bolts (17) from guard (18). Remove the guard from radiator assembly (14).

Remove alternator belt (28). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator Belt - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Remove locking nuts (25) (not shown). Support the weight of the fan as the locking nuts are removed.
Remove fan (23) from radiator assembly (14). Ensure that the blades of the fan do not come into contact with cores of the radiator assembly. Note: Note the orientation of the fan.
Remove fan adapter (24).
Remove fan pulley (27).
If necessary, remove studs (26) (not shown) from fan drive (29) (not shown). Installation Procedure
Ensure that all the components are free from wear and damage. If necessary, replace any components that are worn or damaged.
