Information:

1. Disconnect tube (1) from engine oil cooler (2). Cap and plug all openings immediately. 2. Remove two bolts (4).3. Remove two bolts (5). At this point the engine oil cooler is held in place by six bolts (3). Hold the oil cooler in place by hand while removing six bolts (3) to prevent the oil cooler from falling.4. Hold oil cooler (2) in place by hand. Remove six bolts (3). 5. Use two people to slide engine oil cooler (2) toward the rear of the engine away from engine oil cooler inlet bonnet (6). Remove engine oil cooler (2). The weight of the engine oil cooler is approximately 23 kg (51 lb).6. Remove the two O-ring seals from the end of engine oil cooler (2).7. Remove the gasket between the engine oil cooler and the cylinder block. Check the gasket for wear or damage and replace with a new part if necessary.
There is spring pressure behind cover (8). To prevent possible personal injury, hold cover (8) in position while removing bolts (7) slowly and evenly to release the pressure.
8. Remove cover (8), spring (9), and plunger (10) from the engine oil cooler by-pass valve. 9. Clean engine oil cooler tubes (11) with a 3 mm (.12 in)diameter rod (12). The following steps are for installation of the oil cooler. Check the O-ring seals and gaskets for damage or wear prior to assembly. Replace with new parts if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil prior to installation.10. Install the gasket between the engine oil cooler and the cylinder block. 11. Install the two O-ring seals on the end of the engine oil cooler. Lubricate the two O-ring seals with clean engine oil prior to installation of the engine oil cooler. 12. Install plunger (10), spring (9) and cover (8), into the engine oil cooler by-pass valve.13. Install bolts (7) holding cover (8). 14. Use two people to slide engine oil cooler (2) into position on engine oil cooler inlet bonnet (6). The weight of the engine oil cooler is approximately 23 kg (51 lb). 15. Install two bolts (4).16.
