Charging the Hydraulic Accumulator
Illustration 1 g01210331
Remove the hammer from the Power Pack.
Secure the hammer in an upright position.
Remove the handle assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR6996, "Hydraulic Hand Control - Remove".
Remove 275-0465 Protective Cap (G) .
Connect the 121-6583 Accumulator Charging Group (A) to the accumulator.Note: The 7Q-8498 Charging Adapter is not used. Instead, use the 282-8718 Charging Adapter .Note: The 3K-0360 O-Ring Seal is not used. Instead, use the 111-9986 O-Ring Seal .
Connect 175-5507 Nitrogen Charging Group (B) to the nitrogen gas cylinder.
Illustration 2 g00979491
Connect 9U-6740 Accumulator Charging Group to 175-5507 Nitrogen Charging Group (B). Refer to illustration 2 for the required parts in order to connect the two groups together.
When the two groups have been connected together, close the discharge valve (D) on the 9U-6740 Accumulator Charging Group .
Open 3Q-7835 Purge Screw (J) through the 9U-6740 Accumulator Charging Group for three turns in a counterclockwise direction in order to open the purge screw.
The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Sudden release of nitrogen pressure can cause personal injury. To avoid personal injury, release the nitrogen pressure from the accumulator before disassembly.
Open discharge valve (D) in a counterclockwise direction in order to release the pressure from the accumulator.
Remove the 121-6583 Accumulator Charging Group (A) from the accumulator.
Remove 275-0464 Bolt (J) .
Remove 214-9316 Seal (K) from 275-0464 Bolt (J) .
Install a new 214-9316 Seal (K) on the 275-0464 Bolt (J). If 275-0464 Bolt (J) is damaged, replace the bolt.
Install 275-0464 Bolt (J) .
Close discharge valve (D) .
Open 275-0464 Bolt (J) through the 9U-6740 Accumulator Charging Group for three turns in a counterclockwise direction in order to open the purge screw.Note: Before you open the valve on the nitrogen gas cylinder, you must ensure that the valve (W) on the regulator for the 175-5507 Nitrogen Charging Group (B) is completely backed out.
Carefully open the valve on the nitrogen gas cylinder. Set the regulator of the 175-5507 Nitrogen Charging Group (B) to 5000 kPa (725 psi).
Wait for ten minutes in order to allow the nitrogen gas pressure to stabilize inside the accumulator.
Adjust the accumulator pressure on pressure gauge (C ) to the final pressure.
Tighten 275-0464 Bolt (J) to a torque of 28 N m (20 lb ft). Do not overtighten the bolt.
Close the valve on the nitrogen gas cylinder.
Release the pressure from the charging hose by opening the discharge valve (D) .
Remove the 121-6583 Accumulator Charging Group (A) from the accumulator.
Check the accumulator for a nitrogen leak. The nitrogen leak can be detected in the area of the seal (K). Fill the area with oil in order to detect a nitrogen leak. A nitrogen leak will cause bubbles in the oil. When this occurs, the pressure in
