Remove the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Drive - Remove".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Note: Some models are equipped with standard washers in place of a locking tab.
If equipped, bend the locking tabs (1) . Remove bolts (3) and fan adapter (2) .

Use a suitable press to remove fan drive (4) from the fan support.

Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (5) . Remove the shaft and the bearings from the fan drive housing.

Remove seal (6) .

Remove ring (7) and spacer (8) .

Use a suitable press in order to push shaft (9) through bearing (10) , spacer (11) , and bearing (12) .
