Remove & Install Valve Cover Assemblies
1. Remove bolts (1) and the washers that hold the valve covers in position. Move clips (3) clear of the valve covers.2. Remove three valve covers (2) spacer (5) and seals (4). The following steps are for the installation of the valve cover assembly.3. Be sure the valve covers and spacers are thoroughly clean prior to installation. Seals (4) must be cut from bulk length material to the correct size.4. Cut seals (4) to the correct length for the valve covers and the spacers. Coat the joint of each seal with 3S6252 RTV Silicone after installation. 5. Put seals (4), spacer (5) and valve covers (2) in position on the valve cover base. Put clips (3) in position on the valve covers.6. Install bolts (1) and the washers that hold the valve covers in position. Tighten bolts (1) as follows:a. First, tighten bolts (1) in the numerical sequence shown in the illustration to a torque of 12 3 N m (9 2 lb ft).b. Tighten bolts (1) again in numerical sequence to a torque of 12 3 N m (9 2 lb ft).
