Sidecutter Control Valve

Under Engine Compartment
(1) Sidecutter control valve
(2) Port "X"
(3) Sidecutter up solenoid
(4) Main relief valve
(5) Sidecutter down solenoidSidecutter control valve (1) is located under the engine compartment. An access door on the right side of the machine allows access to this component.Oil from the steering pump flows to sidecutter control valve (1). The sidecutter control valve contains components used to control the sidecutter system. Sidecutter system pressure can be measured at port "X" (2).Sidecutter control valve (1) is controlled by the options ECM. This valve is controlled by two solenoids. Sidecutter up solenoid (3) causes the sidecutter to raise. Sidecutter down solenoid (5) causes the sidecutter to lower. The sidecutter control valve directs oil to one end of the sidecutter hydraulic cylinder while opening the other end to the hydraulic tank.Main relief valve (4) limits sidecutter system pressure to 10000 1000 kPa (1450 145 psi). When the main relief valve is open, sidecutter system oil flows into the hydraulic tank.Sidecutter Manifold

Under Engine Compartment
(6) Sidecutter manifold
(7) Counterbalance valvesSidecutter manifold (6) is located under the engine compartment. An access door on the right side of the machine allows access to this component.Oil flows from sidecutter control valve (1) to sidecutter manifold (6). Counterbalance valves (7) on the manifold ensure the sidecutter hydraulic cylinder will not move unless pressurized oil is in one end of the cylinder. When pressurized oil is made available to one end of the sidecutter cylinder, the counterbalance valve for the other end of the sidecutter cylinder shifts. This shift opens the end of the sidecutter cylinder to the hydraulic tank.A check valve (not shown) is installed in parallel with each counterbalance valve. This check valve prevents hydraulic oil from flowing out of the sidecutter cylinder unless the corresponding counterbalance valve is open.
