Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check for Codes
A. Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tools", if necessary.
B. Download the "Product Status Report" from the engine ECM before performing any troubleshooting or clearing diagnostic trouble codes.
C. Determine if the diagnostic trouble code that directed to this procedure is present.
D. Look for active diagnostic codes that are associated with the system for the event code that directed to this procedure.

Repair: Troubleshoot any associated codes before continuing with this test.
Result: An associated code is NOT present.
Proceed to the next step.
2. Check for Condensation
A. Check that the dryer for gas supply is operating at full capacity.
Condensation
Result: The dryer for gas supply is operating at full capacity.
Proceed to the next step.
Result: The dryer for gas supply is NOT operating at full capacity.
Repair: Remedy the cause of the malfunction.
2. Check the Fuel Quality
A. Perform a gas analysis.
B. Data from the gas analysis must be entered into Caterpillar Software, LEKQ6378, "Methane Number Program". Record the result for the LHV.
C. Enter the result for the LHV into the "Fuel Quality" parameter.
Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Air/Fuel Ratio Control - Adjust".
Fuel Quality
Result: The current setting for the "Fuel Quality" parameter is NOT OK.
Repair: Correct the setting for the "Fuel Quality" parameter.
