The new seal has a different design and is made from different material. The new seal has hydrodynamic grooves, which return lubrication oil to the engine crankcase as the crankshaft rotates. The material used in the new seal can be easily damaged by sharp objects. For this reason, the new seal comes preassembled to the wear sleeve.
Do not separate the seal and wear sleeve.The seal and wear sleeve should be installed as a unit. If the seal and wear sleeve are separated they should not be used.
Adaptable To: The new 7W3200 Rear Crankshaft Seal Group is a direct replacement for the former 1W36 Rear Crankshaft Seal Group as shown above. The new 7W3200 Rear Crankshaft Seal Group is not used in D3B Tractors or 910, 926 or 931B Loaders, which use a different double lip-type seal and installation tool as shown in the reference article.Procedure To Install A New 7W3200 Rear Crankshaft Seal And Wear Sleeve
Do not separate the seal and wear sleeve. Install them as a unit.
1. Clean and prepare the wear sleeve inside diameter and crankshaft outside diameter with 8M8060 Quick Cure Primer. Apply 9S3265 Retaining Compound to the crankshaft outside diameter and the wear sleeve inside diameter before the wear sleeve is installed on the crankshaft.2. Install the locator and bolts on the rear of the crankshaft. See Illustration.
Do not lubricate the seal lip and wear sleeve before installing on crankshaft.
3. Put the wear sleeve and seal in position on the locator with the part number away from the crankshaft (toward the rear of the engine).4. Put the installer in position on the locator.5. Put clean engine oil on the face of the nut and install it on the locator. Tighten the nut until the installer is at bottom.6. Remove the tooling and check the wear sleeve and seal for correct position. The wear sleeve must be even with the flywheel mounting flange.
