Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect". The information is in this manual.
Remove the center drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR1511, "Center Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".
Personal injury or death can result from machine articulation or movement.Machine frames can move and a person can be crushed.Connect the steering frame lock link between the front and rear frames before working on machine.
Chock the wheels of the machine in order to prevent any movement of the machine during the maintenance procedure.
Raise the truck body. Secure the truck body in the raised position with the support strut.

Start the engine in order to compress the spring that is in actuation cylinder (1) and thus disengaging the parking brake. Identify the orientation of lever (3) in relationship to gear (5). Turn wrench (4) counterclockwise in order to release the contained pressure from lever (3). Stop the engine.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

Disconnect hose (6) from actuation cylinder (1). Remove the O-ring seal from hose (6). Move the hose aside.

Remove the cotter pin from retaining pin (9). Remove retaining pin (9) from lever (3) and from actuator arm (8). Remove two nuts (7), the lockwashers, and the hard washers that secure actuation cylinder (1) to bracket (10). Remove actuation cylinder (1) from bracket (10) .

Remove two bolts (13) and the washers from parking brake assembly (12). Remove six bolts (11) and the washers that secure parking parking brake assembly (12) to the machine frame.

Attach Tooling (A) to the exhaust port of the truck body. Attach Tooling (A) to parking brake assembly (12), as shown.

Use a second person to stabilize parking brake assembly (12). Use Tooling (A) in order to raise parking brake assembly (12) from the brake disc. Use Tooling (A) in order to lower parking brake assembly (12) to the floor. The weight
