The new gasket is manufactured from a graphite material and has a perforated core design. The new plate is designed to evenly distribute the bolt loading forces and improve the bolt torque retention. New bolts are used to install the new plate and gasket. The new components will help prevent oil leaks between the front housing and the spacer deck.Adaptable To: The illustration and chart identify the new components in the 9Y3594 Front Housing Group. The new components, when used together, are direct replacements for the former components.
Location of components in 9Y3594 Front Housing Group. 1011286 Plate (1). 1011287 Gasket (2). 6V2317 Bolts (3). 9M1974 Washers (4). 9Y3592 Housing Assembly (5). The new components are in effect with Challenger 75 Tractor (4CK480) and 3176 Truck Engine (7LG9754). When used together the new components are adaptable to all earlier Challenger 75 Tractors and 3176 Truck Engines.
Use the procedure that follows to install the new components.
1. Determine if 9U5177 Threaded Inserts have been installed in the spacer deck. See the Reference Article. Install the inserts if necessary.2. When assembling, install the new 1011287 Gasket (2) dry. The non-beaded side of the gasket goes toward the spacer deck.3. Install the new 1011286 Plate (1) on the housing (5) with four new 6V2317 Bolts (3) and 9M1974 Washers (4). Tighten the four bolts (3) to torque of 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft).
